Social Media is the future of communication, social media is also the sharing of information on the internet via text, photos, audio, videos and information in general. There are many different types of social media platforms or programs. These include the likes of: Facebook, Linkedin, Instagram, Snapchat, Line, Skype, etc.

The purpose of these programs are to share and receive notifications and feedback in the form of messages or posts. The more likes your post receives the more people will see it, as when you like a post, it is shared with your followers or friends. This means a shared or liked post can reach a vast number of people. This is great news for companies that want to advertise their products or services.

The problem with social media is that it can also be used for bullying and harassing others. The designers and/or administrators of the sites try to control the content on their web pages to stop this type of negative behaviour.

What is GameOn?

Game-On is a 20 minute show to warn kids about cyber safety online, including fraud, identity theft, addiction to games, and more. It shows how you can stop this from happening to you and the people you love/know.

 

Game-On is a show about cyber safety and how kids and parents can be safe online. The show was 20 minutes long and was very educational. The show was helpful to me helped me see that some things online are not safe and can save you from many things on the internet. Although some things on the show didn’t make sense I would say that it is worth watching if you want to learn more about safety online.

 

Some positives for Game-On would be:

• Helps to teach kids the importance of safety online.
• The show has multiple examples of how kids are being treated online (Identity theft, fraud, and addiction to games)
• How anyone can get into your account if you share your information.
• People can change things on your account.
• What to do when someone is hacking your account or someone you do not know is talking to you online.

 

There are a few Negatives about this show, here are some that I saw when watching:

• Bad acting (although they were mainly kids, so that is forgivable).
• Didn’t cover all the types of cyber safety
• Too Serious

 

I think the show was very educational and helpful, I do think it is worth watching if you want to learn more about safety online, and if you do watch it please tell me what you thought of it. It can help you with the things most people don’t even realise is happening online and can teach you what to do if you are in a dangerous situation online.

I would Rate this show 3/5 stars for it was educational although was very serious. I would encourage people to watch this as it helped me and I think it would help many other people to.
